Great post B101, good to find all this out before i buy the kit.

The manufactures spec recommends the power of the tractor to be 70< hp to hang it on.

The total weight of the winch is 562kg without the wire

Difflock that's a good shout about line speed on the EH models ihad not noticed that.

Have you got the radio control unit ?

Brushcutter why would you choose the extra wide butt plate out of intrest?

Cheers Lads

We generally cut 4.1 -4.5m saw logs in larch so the bigger but plate make them bit easier to roll and flip up onto the stack. With the current Fransgard its a pain to get more than 2 butts skidded or 3-4 poles. With the bigger one i expect i can get 4-5 poles on at least and 3 butts. Saving a bit of time for not a lot extra cost.

So of the hardwoods i've skidded have been massive and the butt end and the bigger butt plate would have really helped.

The 8 ton uniforest is a beast of a winch pulled this no problem, the remote control is a bit bulkey. You get a lot of winch for your money.

Hardwood did you get the basic radio unit or the one that does the tractor as well?

Nice job pulling the oak out of the pond.
