084, 088, and 3120 are about as big as you'll get, they'll all run 7'+ bars albeit not very quickly, and you'll want an aux oiler.

 

090 would run a bar that size better, but are rare and usually quite aged. 090g would be best, but that is super-rare.

Thanks slot for your input , so I'm safe to buy a 7' bar ? Looking for a 090g next normal 090 sold for £225 other week should of snapped it up

 

if you need a 7' bar, and have a good running 084 then go for it, she'll chew through anything eventually. but buy or make an auxillary oiler for it.

 

i did see that 225quid 090, an absolute steal... and sadly ive never seen a 090g for sale in europe, and you'd be hard pressed to find parts for the geardrive if needed...

Ahh I see so if I recall a normal 090 is 127cc so a 090g is 97 but with a thimigyjiggy and a 084 is 122cc thanks for your info I'll be looking for a 090 soon or another 084 never have to many BIG saws two months ago biggest saw I had was a 16" BnQ special now it's a 084 think it might have a bit more UmMMFF

090- 137cc, 090g-107cc(same top end as an 070).... there was a very limited number of 10ci (163.8cc) 090s released by stihl (holy grail).

 

big saws are good. currently my biggest saw is 88cc.... it makes me sad sometimes:crying:
