you will need to re install windows onto the new hd using the disc. it cannot be transferred. i'd recommend upgrading to windows 7 anyway, xp is a bit ancient now. (so long as your computer is up to the job (more than 1ghz processor and more than 1gb ram)

re installing windows will come with IE and windows defender etc. you will need to re install the anti virus using the CD or download it.

Is it a desktop or laptop???

If its a desktop fit new drive as a master and install OS, anti virus, and any programs, then connect old hhd as slave and then "drag n drop" the files you wish to save.

If its a laptop the fit a new hhd install the OS then buy a hhd connector cable and again 'drag n drop'

it cannot be transferred.

It can be done. You'll need some software in order to "clone" your old drive and all it's contents onto the new drive. But don't ask me how - I've been meaning to do mine and doing a bit of research but I keep putting it off.

Try googling "Cloning hard drive" for more info.
