That would be about 700 tonne of wood and 300 tonne of spikes - great for burning, but horrific to handle!

Gensetsteve - i totally understand what your saying and it would be great if everyone bought a year or two in advance but they're not going to so the folk selling dry wood will be busier.

 

I've seen the effects of burning wet wood and it's a nightmare. A decent modern stove will keep it's glass clean providing the wood is dry. Wood more than 20% will tar the glass and cause excessive tarring of flue.

 

For the last two years everybody selling firewood good or bad has been busy. No matter how much seasoned logs you have it will be depleated by November even without advertising. You cant get any busier. Customers dont need to buy a year in advance just buy now and not 4pm christmas eve when they have 2 logs left.

Hawthorn - fantastic firewood, we get a lot of it for firewood through the hedgerow coppicing side of the business. Lovel stuff but yeah a bastard to handle
