Logos?

I'm looking for a new business logo, something like an old twisted trunk veteran/bonsai, in silhouette form. I have found one on the net I like from a stock photo site which is for sale, with the stipulation no business logo use!?

So, can anyone help? Maybe a point in the right direction, or instructions on how I can take a photo of a suitable tree (I know of many!) and turn it into a silhouette. Any help or advice appreciated :)

That's usual with stock photos. If you want something stylised, start with a photo then in whatever package you have (photoshop, illustrator etc) trace lines over the top to define the edges, plus the main features. Then hide the layer with the photo and see how it shapes up. A bit like using tracing paper. Or start with the photo and apply some effects or change the colours until you have something you like.

Yes please, graffic designers around me all quoted above £150 for just a basic design! :)
