Yale Bee Line 8mm Eye To Eye

Hey chaps,had my LOLER inspection this wk and my fairly new bee line failed because the inspector wasnt happy about the eye to eye design,thought it a bit strange as the bee line is working really well wit vt and hitchclimber and as i said its fairly new and cost £17 from arb fair.any thoughts ??????????

Ha Ha...I saw thius and you beat me toit.....

If its the beeline Iam thinking of...it was a longlived and hardwearing cord....the eye was prone to fraying where the inner core was exposed....ruined the product as far as I was concerned...

What reason was given for faliure and do you have a pic?

The exposed core should be dipped in a coating product to prevent excessive wear. I have a footlock strop in 8mm beeline that sees regular use and is about 3 years old and still in good nick.

this is actually interesting as i was speaking to 1 accomplished splicer a couple years ago just after beeline came out....who quesitoned wether it was a good idea to splice the cord at all.

They may be supposed to be reading the same book, but they aren't all singing from the same hymn sheet.

What were the reservations regarding splicing steve? And were they applicable to 8mm or 10mm, because they are two totally different splices.

I know knots are not so tidy...but I prefer them 9 times out of ten somehow....Factory splicing isnt necessarily a good splice jus cos its factory...
