Yep, took the old crap sheath off with scissors (v. carefully!!). Then used my splicing kit to pull the velocity sheath over the webbing, lots of insulation tape around the ends and then as you say a bit of heat shrink to stop the tape peeling off in the rain.

Its on so tight, it ain't going anywhere, the tape's to stop the ends unravelling.

Good idea, I'll update this thread in a week with another pic. (Probably with it in bits!)

Whatch the shakels on some of the komet briges as you put the screw in it can pull the webbing. some odd ones also have burres that state the wear on the sheath. Keep us post Tony.

Looks pretty good Tony, but wont the sliding plate get caught at the heat shrunk rubber parts of the bridge?

I'd also like to see how thAT BRIDGE HOLDS UP AFTER A FEW MONTHS OF CLIMBING.

Do you guys use locktight red (sets like Nylock) to semi secure the fixing screws in place on your bridges ?

i was told to use someting like that but if i dont want to buy new shackles everytime i replace my bridge.

I don't know if you supposed to change the shackles with every new bridge, but it might not be a bad idea anyway.

If you don't need to change the bridge the locktight will undo, but shouldn't allow the bolts to vibrate out with use. Be carefull I think there are different strengths of locktight some don't come free after setting unless youve got a blow torch and a big hammer!:hmmmm:

Locktight Blue is best as far as I know, not that i've ever bothered to use any, I just do them up tight and check them often, never had any come loose on me yet.

As for my bridge mod, I just used a piece of yale XTC and tied barrel knots in the ends to stop it going through the shackles. That way you can adjust the bridge to any length.
