Beech Tree Pollard

Couple of pictures from a recent job, had to pollard it down to where the Ivy was, Was a good job, and great weather for it, Mr "majestic" of here was doing the climbing,

aaarrr nearly there mate, stayed in pretty much one spot all day that day didn't you mate, nice one on the rigging for us sam you did a good job,

the ivy will now gointo rapid growth mode and out compete the beech regrowth, I suggest you remove at least half the ivy to allow light into cambium and stop it out competing new growth.

 

if the ivy isnt dealt with to some extent this is now a monolith rather than a pollard, this tree will die.

 

prove me wrong and get shots of its progress, im very interested, and hoping it survives and proves me wrong.

the ivy was left but i'm told the owner wants it removed now, sub-contracted job so didn't deal with customer mate, but did suggest it to be removed but was told to leave, will get some photos next year for you mate.

yep stayed in one place most of the day, found it rather strange tbh, because i was trying to look busy but could not and i tried my best on the rigging front
