does anyone climb useing a shunt

I seem to remember seeing someone over at Treebuzz starting a thread about using the Shunt....mind you that was in about 1948.

i used to use one will dropped it once i started using the v.t. i plan to go back to using it again someday, i waiting to see pics of your setup bob!

Got some great floors the sunt, their was a fall last year because of one. If you are used to it cool, but look out for debrey getting in to it, even saw dust in the top. Make sure your groundy or who ever might be coming to reascue know how it works, it hard to releae wait of of it fully loaded. If you like the shunt and mecanical rather than a knote give the Lockjake sport ago. Where are you based bob?

ive climbed on and off using a rocker before. will maybe give the shunt a go. what rope are you using bob?

alex, if its the fall i know about then the guy should never have been using the shunt in the first place....that was inexperienced operator error, nothing more

Both rokker and shunt are fall arest belay devices not designed or made for arb DdRT. I would recomend you think twice about useing them in DdRT. in SRT sure.

most of the gear and techniques we use are derived from other disciplines.....on one hand we are encouraged to be innovotive and on the other we're told otherwise!
