Agreed, its too short. It will lock but might not release after loading becaue there is not enoguh movement in the legs to give it the chance to slacken of before the pulley gets to the coils to move them.

 

1m is nver really enougn, 1.2-1.3 is minimal 1.4-1.5 is about the most, so its always best to buy cordage by the meter in 3/6/9/12 m lenghts so as to make an even number of 1.5m cords that can then have longer tails (or bits cut off if required)
