yes thats a suislide. you need to pass behind the bridge and round the back going up under the first 2 wraps

Yeah thats exactly what I did. It must just have been my dressing and setting. But Paul tieing the knots in the bottom of the rope so I dont hit the ground sounds like an extremely good idea, ill mention that to him next time I have a go.

Jesus mate that's a bit shocking ! For your instructor say 'it might be the rope ' is not enough of a good enough reason for me ! Is all I can say is stick to a prussic for a bit until you can competently tie the knot for yourself and don't have to rely on someone to check it for you.

How do I incorporate the prusik into a dynamic climbing line system? I thought it was a single rope technique knot? I know how to tie it, i have the climbers companion book but i cant see it saying you can use it with a dynamic line?

you set it up the same as you would a blakes[/quote

I take it you dont need a prusik loop then? I thought you did. Just use a bight in the rope?

You can do it with the three knot system, but a prussik loop is better as you dont have to remove the whole system everytime you advance to another branch.

There are so many hitches that are better than either tha blakes or the prussik. For one that is easy to tie and very grippy I'd try the icicle.

I dont htink he's quite there yet!! Prussik first for a few weeks/months/years, then blakes for a day, then move on................
