Hi All, been noticing a bit of chain oil pooling under my saw when left over night. Had a close look at the saw tonight, cleaned of all the muck and low and behold there is a hairline crack about an inch long. The crack is a cm or so below the oil fill hole.

I dont really want to have to replace the case at the moment... So my first thought was epoxy resin but has anyone tried super 'cyano' glue on these plastic cases and had success?

If i am pissin into the wind and need to just put my hand in my pocket for a new case please say! :confused1:

if it is a small split you will need to spend a long time with brake/carb cleaner to get rid of the oil, by far the best plastic glue i have used is made by a company called innotec, its an amazing 2k glue but its coupled with some good marketing, specialist applicator guns/ nozzles etc, too much money for a one off job!! a lot off garages/bodyshops use them thou, maybe worth a try asking around them

Are you sure it's a crack, as you will get a bit of oil seeping out overnight from the oil pump.

This is what i had assumed it was for the last 2 months :001_rolleyes: but yes i am positive is a crack.

Dont know how i have done it but it must have taken some force to do.

I have cleaned it with brake cleaner and also roughed it up with light sandpaper.

I know the boys in a paint show well so ill drop by and ask about the innotec.

Really want to try gluing before i buy a new tank casing, but out of interest is the oil tank separate to the casing?
