Its very near me

I went on a veteran tree management course there a few years ago

There used to be a big house there and they planted an avenue leading up to it d for the ladies to take carriage rides through, back in the day

Loads of lovely old trees (and deer)

:thumbup1:

I'm definitely up for that though - looks excellent!

I take my students there sometimes too - you can watch the salmon running in Oct/Nov in the river and see (and hear) the fallow deer in the park doing what deer do!

The fingle bridge pub is dog friendly and not to be missed - they do great food and beer

There is the largest gorge in S . England and the local scenery is stunning

The trees are good too - Wistmans wood is not to be missed either.......

Never heard it called that before, but been there loads of times, great location. Be sure to take your trunks if you like swimming in rivers :-)

Are you also taking in the Wistmans Wood bit? Now there is a strange little bit of woodland...

The wall in the first pic is listed - and supposed to keep the deer in (although Devon is full of deer anyway)

There is fly fishing to be had on the river too

Want to get to Whistmans soon. Are you amble to camp on Dartmoor? Clearly not in the wood, but close. I would have to get the train down I think, would love to go to Whiddon as well, but we shall see.

Sodding southeners having all these nice old woods :sneaky2:
