Matt's fungi finds

[Fungus]

Pics were taken during my Heathland Course after a gentleman claimed there were no fungi that would grow on heaths due to their acid soils.

 

To make identification easier, some information on the characteristics of the fungi and the trees they could be associated with would have been welcome.

 

1. Possibly Mycena galopus var. galopus.

2. Maybe Inocybe spec. (trees ?).

3. Pisolithus arhizus (= P. tinctorius), an ectomycorrhizal symbiont of very young birch, willow and pine on very acid soils (pH 1/2).

4. ???

5/6. Lactarius deterrimus (spruce) or L. deliciosus (pine).

7/8/9. Russula species (trees ?).

10/11. Lactarius deterrimus (spruce) or L. deliciosus (pine).

12/13. Hygrophorus species (trees ?).

14. Myxomycete or brackets fungus ??? and if a macrofungus, on dead wood of what tree ?

15/16. Laccaria proxima.

17/18. Neotiella rutilans, Octospora humosa or O. melina, etc. : microscope.

19. Hygrocybe miniata.

20. Galerina spec.

7/8/9. Russula species (trees ?).

10/11. Lactarius deterrimus (spruce) or L. deliciosus (pine).

12/13. Hygrophorus species (trees ?).

14. Myxomycete or brackets fungus ??? and if a macrofungus, on dead wood of what tree ?

15/16. Laccaria proxima.

17/18. Neotiella rutilans, Octospora humosa or O. melina, etc. : microscope.

19. Hygrocybe miniata.

20. Galerina spec.

7/8/9 - Growing under Scots Pine

10/11 - Growing about 5 metres away from a Maritime Pine

12/13 - Growing next to Scots Pine

14 - Is growing on a Scots Pine deadwood pole. I'm guessing Phaeolus schweinitzii?

 

Sorry for not giving details of where each fungi was growing. It had completely slipped my mind.

5/6 + 10/11 : Lactarius deliciosus or L. semisanguifluus.

7/8/9 : could be Russula caerulea.

12/13 : possibly Hygrophorus ligatus.

14 : : P. schweinitzii.

Pics 1,2,3, - Found on a failed Hawthorn

Pics 4,5,6 - Trametes versicolor growing on a Hawthorn stump. Phallus impudicus also grows around this stump.

Pics 7,8,9,10,11 - Found growing at the base of a recovering/subsiding beech.

Pics 12,13,14,15 - Phellinus tuberculosus on a snapped Blackthorn stem.

Pics 7,8,9,10,11 - Found growing at the base of a recovering/subsiding beech.

 

Could be one of the saprotrophic look-a-likes of K. deusta, such as Eutypa scabrosa, Anthotosma decipiens or Glyphium elatum : microscope.

Hard to say from a photo alone, probably a Trametes/Antrodiella species.

Oudemansiella mucida found on a fallen Beech deadwood limb. Will get better picutres tomorrow as light was fading fast this evening.
