Hi everyone,

Would you like to see how GIS can deliver tree information to the masses?

Ok that might be a bit of an overstatement, but check out the new Westonbirt Interactive Map to see how GIS can be used to share detailed information.

BTW I did ask permission before posting :001_smile:

Regards

Have to say that is fantastic.

What a great opportunity to plan a trip & take in all your favourite species, without leaving it to sheer chance.

Impressive.........have to go check out the 10 Wild sevice next time I'm up there.

Thanks for sharing :thumbup1:

We haven't fully tested it on the android env - but I know Eye-TREE on which the site is based does work under Android 2.2.

Unfortunately, the mobile phone signal at Westonbirt is not great......

Sorry - getting a bit geeky I know :)

As for an iphone app....... it may well be in the pipeline....

I like that! I could spend ages on there finding my fave trees for the next time I'm at Wetonbirt.

I've just admitted my geek tendancies for all to see, haven't I? :blushing:

I did a bit of work in the Arboretum a few years ago and the team there were only part way through surveying and locating all the trees for their the data base. It's amazing how far things have progressed since then.

This is a brilliant tool. I did 2 weeks work experience up at Westonbirt and helped survey and map some of these trees. I did not know at the time it was in preparation for such a useful interactive map. Nice one :thumbup1:
