Sardinia olive tree

In northern Sardinia there are two old olive trees. One is about two thousand and the one in the pic is about four thousand years old (allegedly). I think they may be the most ancient olives on earth.

Really nice place too. Growing in tall grassland and quiet country location.

Olivastri millinairi (or spelt something like that)

Do you know folks in Sardinia they eat a cheese [sheeps cheese Pecorino] thats riddled with maggots and stinks of amonia, aparently its banned [EU who else] but the locals refuse to stop eating it..

Not UK. Sardinia. South of Corsica (France), west of Italy, east of Spain and north of Africa. Somewhere in the Med. It belongs to Italy.

 

sorry did not mean to sound thick...i knew they were not UK trees over here, just did not put it very well.

 

Nice to see trees on here that are not UK trees,growing in this country...hows that.

i saw that on tv, they loved it ti bits, i rember one old guy saying make sure you chew it well you dont want them little maggots alive inside you!!!!!!
