What is the most popular accountancy system in the arb community, are we using books, spreadsheets or the likes of sage? does anyone use any of the the web based accountancy systems out there?

Found which in think is the best for value for money and for use by linking banks to it, and by having very straight forward use.

Online Accounting Software. Free Trial, Free Support | Xero

Am just interested to see what is the the most popular in the real world and how much money on average do you spend a year on bookkeeping.

I see quick books is very popular in the states. The beauty of a web based system as far as I can see is that you can access it anywhere.

And the is also an app for android and iPhone with xero that let's you do on site receipts or quotes.

Bookkeepper preps it, accountant does it . Simples :)

Bookkeeper is unnecessary I think stephen, unless your doing business on a very large scale there's nothing they can do that you and I can't well thats the way I see it.

i agree. you are going to have to arrange your invoices/receipts in to some sort of order for the book keeper...in which case you're half way there already. a good piece of accounting software cuts out any need for a book keeper

I'm with my Blair on this one, my book keeper is worth her weight in gold, she does invoicing, banks cheques, paye, vat return and keeps everything simple. I just give her receipts once in a while and sign a few cheques and let her get on with it.

I'm busy enough already with out all that crap. we use sage accounts BTW

She sends the invoices, she pays the bills, all my business mail goes to her, I hand her a dozen fuel receipts a month and some money for the bank . Simples smimples. :)

That's not a bookkeeper you have that's a PA! Fairplay to you if it works and you can get it done like that.
