I only climb on one rope unless I'm doing a big tree and I need a second for ease of positioning but I do use a side strop as a second anchor. Same as Rupe; I'm the boss so I do as I need within reason.

I use two ropes in certain circumstances, those are-

A big tree where one needs a decent central rope point but also to work from the top down in strips working for a high second limb anchor.

And on days when its wet and we have no choice, a second rope does hold you in a postition very well and balance is not such an issue as your being supported at two points not one.

I've always climbed on one line unless i'm cable bracing, 2 lines worked with the hitcher climber is so easy moving from limb to limb but i'm like the rest of the guys if you been told to,then you got to do it, if you feel the need then do it, its all personnel preference and being safe. a safe climber always wears stockings and suspenders.... as for 2 lines being dangerous NO don't see how that's possible.
