Using Sycamore for a Hedge

Probably going to touch a nerve with this one. But could you not get done for planting a non-native species? I understand that it has already self seeded but if you re-plant a non-native semi invasive species. Can you be prosecuted under Schedule 9 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981?

what about oak,ash,beech etc all non native really syc is a lovely tree with good value and good as a nurse crop for the tree rats

Which is why i am out tomorrow afternoon with the 3 shot. To control the little blighters. Had 19 out of a 2 acre peice of woodland last weekend.

Schedule 9 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981! WOW!

 

Now im getting excited, I am not familiar with this at all but when it comes to learning something new, I get very excited!!! SAD,,

 

My Garden is tiny, we have one of the biggest gardens on the estate as our house is part of a "Mews" of 4 houses, we are at the end!! Garden is about 10mtrs x 10 mtrs..

 

Been looking into Espalier hedges over the last few days and I think maybe this is not for me. Looks very nice and fun to do but its not really going to screen us, more of an ornamental feature. Quite tempted to do it along another fence down the side where we park the car. As this is not overlooked but would suit well. Will see.

 

I dont have much tree work on yet so still keeping myself busy working at GoApe in Delamere Forest, In my spare time I really must get the garden looking like a garden again. So little space, so many ideas.

 

Shame you cant buy a ready grown 15ft hedge, fits together like a jigsaw, trims itself every 6 months and tidys up at the end.. That would be nice..
