I would love to go to sweden and other countries but all the companies I have sent cvs to have never got back to me. I,ve been climbing for 2 years have all relevant tickets, am reliable and work hard. I shall have another go at applying for a job in sweden next year when I have more experience, hopefully they will accept me.

 

Never rely on a company to get back to you, especially if it's overseas. If you want the job or the move that bad keep chasing them. If they realise you want the position that bad they're more likely to give you the job.

I'm going to be out in N.Z this august and plan to be doing tree work, any tips? Will i need to take some gear i.e harness, boots, trousers? or are there companys willing to supply these?

yes unless you lot have kids and wife ,naff of abroad ha ha think of the work load if that happend

The wife and child are no excuse not to go unless the wife isn't keen. The education system in some countries is way better than that in the UK and employment opportunities are also better. Tie that in with lifestyle etc and working around the world has a lot to offer. Not to belittle what the UK offers but I would hate to be sat there in my 80's wishing that I had done the big OE when I had the chance. I hear from a lot of people who have never moved out of their home town and regret not taking the opportunity to see the world when they had the chance.

 

I'd be fantastic to have a busman's holiday! I've worked all over the UK, family ties stop me trying to emigrate , but i reckon my wife wouldn't mind a month in NZ, who knows, she might even want to live there!!!

Family ties initially stopped my dad from wanting to emigrate to NZ but when he realised that he was a) putting everyone elses wants and needs before his own and b) that they are only a phone call, flight or, these days, skype call away, he decided that he'd do what he wanted. Think of it this way too. If you emigrated you could give the family a really good holiday in a place they might not normally go to.

I do it and I love it, different experiences, people and tree work, but treework doesn't change much from country to country, trees are trees. If you can, get out there, its a big big world, and the way the UK is going, I'd look at trying to do it permanently.
