I wouldn't of thought so given the fact that 2 stroke's are designed to rev! mixing fuel at 40:1 instead of 50:1 will give a little more protection i run both husky and stihl at 40:1 i think it's better for them as the saws get older. hope this helps.

Agree with Sburdy, Steve.

 

They're designed for it. I run slightly richer too, and the 880 has a top end limiter that cuts in when the saw isn't under load.. The rest of the time, I'm revving the granny out of it :-)

I bought an old, and somewhat battered looking 088 for milling early last year and it's done hundreds and hundreds of hours of milling with no ill effect. I tend to mix my fuel just on the rich side of 50:1

I read and dont know if its true but if you overdose with oil it causes the saw to run lean and more likely to cook as you are burning less petrol. I also tend to give it an extra squeeze of oil for luck.
