Evening all.

Starting a planting job next week -6000 mixed broadleaves 20-60cm cell grown.

I have banked on it taking 3 of us 10 days (200 plants per man per day).Is this a realistic rate?

Anybody got any top tips to make the job go smoothly?

All advice gratefully received!

any shelters, get a plug tree planter spade imo cell grown are a pain to notch plant

Yes they are with canes and tubes.

Was talking 200 per day per man also-that too optimistic?

have a stake chapper or using a hammer, 200 each should no problem. do a 100 at time

we usually have 1 planting, other 2 lying out the stakes and tubing, u will soon get it into a rhythm

I enjoyed planting last year - not doing any quantity of it this year though :(

Worked best for us in a production line fashion. There were two of us working, so one would put the stakes in, the other would knock them in. Then one would lay out the plants, the other would plant. Then one would lay out the tubes, the other would afix them to the stakes. We were planting newbies, but still managed a little over 200 per person per day on difficult sites.

Good stuff lads!

Some good advice as usual on here.

Think I will try and vary who does what to keep boredom from setting in!

My plan is to go and mark the site with canes Saturday then we can get cracking straight away on Monday.

Will keep you posted on the progress and try and get some pics up!

Cheers again.
