Hi guys,

About to start selling seasoned firewood, oak, beech, ash, the better stuff, no soft woods and just wondered on a guidance on price?

I have a nissan cabstar, holds 1 tonne of wood...

what would you charge? :thumbup1:

You'll be selling logs by the m3 (volume), not m2 (area).

Prices seem to vary hugely by area. The figure stated above sounds about right though :)

Haha! Not having a jibe - just correcting for the original poster. I do know what you mean though - today is my first day off in 19 days! :001_huh:

If you can weigh and guarantee 1 tonne then you can sell it by weight. Selling by volume is far better though and your cabstar( if single cab) should hold approx 2 cubic metres as a level load. This is only a guideline and you should check first. Get some true cubic metre vented log sacks to quantify.

Work out you production costs and delivery costs and what profit you would like to make.

How were you planning to produce and store the wood??

aim high to start with, go for £100 min per cubic metre. If it doesn't shift you can always reduce it through special/introductory offers. Pricing it low to start with will produce problems when you want to put the price up after realising what all your costs are of producing and delivering the final product.

Mine is £100/cube at moment but will be going up next autumn. In the process of contacting all customers to let them know that - and offering loads for them to keep all summer at this year's prices (part seasoned oak).

Hope that makes sense and helps!
