Where I live, at the south end, it is a mild -5 today, problem is the temp gets up to +2 sometimes now, so some of the snow melts, then freezes again. We currently have about 4 ft of snow outside the front door, more where it has drifted. Parts of the Oslo fjord are still frozen, with about eight inches of ice at the end of our garden, which is salt water.

to start it by 'shorting' across the starter motor you need to find the big wire on the starter that comes straight from the battery, you need to take a live feed from this and touch the small wire that is on the starter solenoid ( a small cylinder bolted to the main starter) be very careful when you do this, make sure it is out of gear and hands, clothing etc is no where near fan!! you will get some small sparks as you join the two, an old screwdriver is good for this!! how cold is it in norway at the moment??

Take a small piece of wire with a spade terminal. On the starter you will find a terminal to connect to dab this on the pos large cable terminal. This would be safer especially if you are on your own and miles from home. Alot kinder to screw drivers and terminal threads
