Just bought one of these second hand, works perfectly. However the fuel filler cap has a crack in it which in normal use isn't a problem but if it is laid on its side the fuel leaks out. I could probably repair the cap but would prefer a new cap, problem is that Stihl have stopped supplying them as the AV 032 is quite old now. I have tried a couple of garden machinery places online but they can't get them as it is to old now.

I do have a couple of places locally that do servicing on lawnmowers, chainsaws etc which I'll try next time I am in town.

But wondered if any of you chaps new of online places that I could try.

you need to find a 'stihl' dealer, the parts you need will be available but they may only order their parts in once in every couple of weeks or so!! what area are you in, im sure someone here will reccomend a dealer if you let us know your area!! good luck :001_smile:

there is a few on US ebay...

the saw was discontinued in the mid 80's, you are unlikely to find a dealer with one on the shelf... you might find a whole saw under a bench somewhere.

He has tried me but they have gone obsolete, I did even check our box of old goodies but no luck I'm afraid. Sorry I couldn't be of help if one comes in and we scrap it I'll let you know.:001_smile:

Thanks Jonsie, :thumbup1:

Someone suggested to me to put a "polythene disk" around the cap then screw it in, which seems not a bad idea, but does the filler cap not have a breather? :confused1:

Can't remember that machine but most saws come with breathers in the tank itself. Give it a go and see how you get on. Just make sure it can't leak down your leg before you start the saw.:001_smile:
