box wood is also liked by lead roofers, apparently they make their hammers from it which they use to shape and fold the lead. it is quite hard to get hole of and a mate of mine who used to work on the roof of lincoln catherdral, had to travel almost to buxton to source the wood for his tools.

Nope, looks like it's almost certainly Holm Oak. Thanks anyway for posting the pics.

 

Somebody please tell me that it wouldn't be worth bugger all if it was Box anyway please! :lol:
