Mewtons at Camelford were crying out for Douglas last time I was there...

 

See if you can get away with offering £2 a ton for it! Or am I way out there? Last time I quoted the FC for hardwoods £8 just about won it... So you've got less valuable wood in a flippin mess to try to sell afterwards...

thanks TC much apreciated , i really want to get into forrestry more and i can see a good outcome to clearing windblow sites ! as mad as it sounds i see loads of plantation full of windblown or multiple windblow trees that need clearing an no one seems to wanna put their hat in the ring to do it down here

There is craploads of terminology to aquaint oneself with:

 

Try this lot without cheating!

 

Define:

 

1) DBH - at what height?

2) Sawlog?

3) Bar?

4) Pulpwood?

5) Granny?

6) Green tonne?

7) Nurse?

8) Overbark / Underbark?

9) p year?

10) Stand?

11) Stocking density?

12) Stumpage?

13) Butt rot?

14) Green logs and Red Logs

15) Parcel?

 

All pretty much irrelevant if for firewood!!!

When i first saw this i thought £3 a cube. You'd probally win it at that. £6-8 quid you be picking up some rather nice standing hardwoods for that.
