Anyone got a good way or device to stop losing heat from a room up the chimney? We're doing a new build and one room will have a wood burning stove but we would like an open fire in another room but don't want to lose all the heat from the room when there is no fire there which will be a lot of the time.

Cheers

I took out a jet master fire. It's a convecting double skinned design and has a lever to control airflow which can seal off flute when not lit. Sat in my shed in Argyll if interested pm me.

If you're looking for a way to close the flue when there's no fire lit, then consider one of those flue balloons - an inflatable 'bladder' that expands to the dimensions of the flue. Google it.

I'm looking for something that is you don't have to put up the chimney and take out each time you use it thus making a mess. I wonder if there are door like things that you can pull or push a lever and it will block off the chimney?

In the film 'Close encounters of the thrid' kind theres a bit where to stop aliens gettting down the chimney(the pesky buggers:001_rolleyes:) some woman closes over a sort of trap door just above the fire in the chimney breast.

I reckon thats the answer your looking for.:thumbup1:
