Sorry Tony, i lost track of this thread. They were the only pics of the laces i had. The owners have decided to get me to remove the tree, they were going to get it down anyway but any info on the condition would of helped them sleep easier with their decision.

I will take some pictures of the slices for you next week.

A travesty....

but appreciate the images all the same.

im going to coin a new phrase....

retention, retention, retention!

reductions are just death by a thousand cuts Tony and cost far more in the long run, budget is a major factor remember, this tree sits on Rock above 2 small houses with wind coming off the sea. Both owners are in their 70's, i will not guarantee 100% than anything less than fell will guarantee it will not fall down. If i go hard and remove some big limbs, how long until decay sets in?

This tree has had her day, nothing else is growing within a 100 feet radius because of it, she will heat a dozen houses for 2 years and make way for a lot of new planted trees.

2 people will sleep better at night aswell.

Not at all tony im just having a laugh :thumbup1:

no, it is the way it is, and I have a long and arduous task in front of me, as do a few others out there who are all trying to show the light.

Decay CAN be managed, is a natural process in the ancient tree and WE cannot just keep wiping out every psuedodefective tree:thumbdown:

If you gave this tree a reduction would you 100% guarantee the safety of this tree? Would you put your name on the insurance so if anything did go wrong you got the bill, and maybe even a jail sentence, would you tell the familiy of the elderly owner that they can sleep safe knowing you have given the tree a little trim?
