Hi I was recently given by a friend a 346xp, to which I thought great! However opon it not starting and owing over everything I thought I could change I admitted defeat and took it to a husky dealer. They have now got back to me saying it will cost 340 pounds to fix, and that it needs a new cylinder and piston. this seems pretty steep to me. A glance on eBay reveals that these parts can be brought for £60x, but are replica parts, not the real deal. Has anyone had any experience in buying such parts and should I get a professional to replace them or is it possible to have a crack myself. I'm based currently in north Devon, but am often in London.

you can buy a new one for £460 ish

over the top price for a repair:thumbdown:

i paid £110 for a new piston in a 254xp,i am happy with that!

but i was told that was expensive

Ive had a replica piston for a 346xp from eBay, was absolutely fine

I bought 1 on ebay, £65, 3 months later plug blew out. Am now in dispute with supplier, not hopeful of mutual agreement. Will post outcome as and when.

Put it on flea bay you will be surprised at what you get and put the money towards a new one.

If it has been heat seized, don't forget to check for air leaks before running it with new parts otherwise you may fry it again.

You may be able to salvage the cylinder.
