MS660 Help!

Hi all, got a problem with a 4 year old ms 660.

 

Nearly firing but not quite, have replaced spark plug, fuel lines all seem clear, diaphragm and metering all seem ok on carb, as does carb itself, but just will not quite go.

 

I'm convinced it's a fuel starving problem from somewhere, but don't know where!

 

Fuel seems to be moving round ok, so if anyone has any ideas, would be gratefully appriciated, before it gets the full Basil Fawlty treatment!

is there a spark?,, if not ht lead/ignition coil....

Yep, plenty of that to, as my arm is about to fall off thru all the starting attempts!

Impulse hose to the carb? Is that ok?

 

Breather on fuel tank? Clear?

 

Small filter in base of carb, looks like the old filters off smoking pipes... Is that clear too?

Did check all those bit's earlier, but just had another look and all clean as a whistle and seemingly fine. That's the thing with this one, there is no obvious problem, but I bet its gonna be something really obvious...........

Has the carb been adjusted recently?

 

Could be not enough fuel going to the saw on the idle setting?

 

With the saw off, rotate the cylinder to near the top to shut of the exhaust port and put about 15ml of 2-stroke oil in the cylinder through the exhaust port...

Rotate the cylinder quickly to the bottom tilting the saw back and to the side slightly, then pull it over a few times gently whilst still off...

Put 5ml or so of fuel in the cylinder and then try starting it as if from cold...

 

 

I had to do it recently on an old saw that was doing pretty much the same thing, smoked quite a biit on first start then ran fine...

Tried that, and still nothing. May be time to throw in the towel and take it to the dealers unless anyone else has any ideas?

Its not sat for a long time? Old fuel? I know its a long shot but.....
