To think, i've spoke to you for all this time not knowing you were a groundy. I feel robbed:vollkommenauf:

Jamie

S'ok Jamie, I dont suppose many groundies subscribe to forums anyway. I mean it's only a job anyway, why spend all night talking about trees, rakes, dragging brush etc. :beerglass: is the groundies only escape!

Just had a thought re-reading thru this thread, CLIMBERS be aware, especially on bright, sunny days this time of year, that the sun is lower in the sky! Hand signals are fine IF you can be seen, but staring up at a tree trying to decipher the smallest detail against a bright ball of fire is very difficult, especially in a hurry, so dont assume that the groundies can see what you mean, and groundies, if you cant see, make sure you understand the climber, DONT guess.

To snap the dead eye thou.. how big was the section?

Ps looks like a neat job half way through good work.

  • 4 years later...

cos i sub alot i've developed a cool technique for all groundsmen , for the fantastic ones who unload a hobs, various pullys and a couple of beefy looking 50mtr ropes, good comunication and teemwork. for guys who haven't got good gear, just an old climbing rope its a case of run round the tree like my arse is on fire handballing everything down. the latter is the best fun and they don't have much cutting to do either.
