Wind turbines/wind farms. Your thoughts on them.

I live in the east midlands in a small village called Watford gap. They ar planning on having 2 wind farms, one at the top of the village and one at the bottom. The turbines will be the tallest in Britain, 240m tall with a span of over an acre each. There will be I think 15 in all. The 5 surrounding 5 villages all have a w. Farm planned as well.

I think this is over kill and all I have worked for, being a place to live, will drop considerably in price. So will piss me off a treat.

From what I have read they are not energy viable and run at tops 30% efficient. They return the energy they took to make them in 25 years. Etc

Now I know farmers have to make a living and all that but com on.

What are your thoughts on them??

Waste of time. A couple of em here and there aren't too bad on the eyes but the endless miles of them dumped on every evailable hill side, moor top etc look horrendous. Talk about destroying the aesthetics of a place. There's some not far from us and the locals reckon the make a hell of a noise too. Soon, when you think you have a bit of piece, quiet and isolation, you'll turn around and be able to see one of these things somewhere. And, as far as I'm concerned, it's just bone idle. The so called experts can't be bothered to work on other alternatives; just bang up another windmill, she'll be right.

like all them in the solway firth that are ready for falling over? the tide washing the sand round the bases has made a depression in front and behind them.. i wouldn't go within falling distance of them for fear of being blended.
