Ok here we go.....just when i think i'm making inroads into this fungi malarkey i get stumped once again.......So found this on an ash today.......know its probably obvious but not to me:blushing:......not hispidus which is common on ash......not perrenipora........not confragosa.......only thing I can point a finger at is resinaceum......but have never seen it on ash:confused1: am i right or am i going to call a halt to my short and frustrating fungi days?

I would think its pretty aggressive on ash, bad enough on aok

Well if it is resi which i'm pretty certain i'm giving myself a pat on the back and keeping on the fungi road!:thumbup1:

Like the thread - very useful for where I go next in my career. Always good to see the real thing rather than the choreographed material you generally see in books. These pics certainly put another perspective on what you could be looking at out there in the woods. Cheers guys nice one :thumbup1:

Ganoderma.

tbh I'm leaning toward applanatum.

But there's a slight pfeifferi look about them.

Anyhoos, that's not the real point.

Here they are in situe on an old fallen Beech trunk.

The later shots are of the inside of one of the brackets showing heavily desicated flesh which has left the shell of the bracket largely intact.
