One of the exhaust bolts was loose when I tried to tighten or free it snapped. Now the others have gone. The baffle in the muffler is loose and the front has all broken up. I was thinking 3 new bolts and muffler or has anyone found a cheap improvement by welding up the mufler with some bushes.

If it were just the baffles I wouldnt worry too much, but if the front has all rotted away it sounds like you will need to part with some pennies!

Have the studs snapped in the pot, or are you talking of the ones that hold the sections together?

Tried e-bay?

The main problem with mufflers falling apart is that the engine comes off tune.

Running a saw with an iffy muffler can make it run lean and as bits fall off and give less back pressure it gets worse.

IMO, its best to sort it before it starts blowing.

Its a bit like doing a muffler mod without adjusting the carb. Not advisable!

Thanks for the link I may try that non genuine muffler. Looks like it could be a bit thicker and less tensile than the genuine may last a bit longer. The only reason I found it falling off was I struggled to get it to 4 stroke. When cutting it revved far to high and easily. Basically leaned out too much luckily piston and pot A1.
