Drum Chippers

What drum chippers do you guys use? Im looking to get one to hire out, i dont know a lot about them. What are good and why also what are not so good and why?

If you discount the mega priced Jenz type machines, The Dynamic Conehead is without doubt the best drum chipper you can buy.

I don't know if they are available over there, but I love my Woodsman 730X. Small build 12" model, chips like a dream, and crushes crotches like nothing. The John Deere engine is great on fuel, no complaints really!

I've used a Conehead on several of my jobs and i would say it was very fuel effcient more so than many of the competitiors i have worked with.

Try a look at a heizohack , to hire out for biomass

I dont think it is as quick as a cone head , but you do need a tractor

Lets say the 2 most popular models here the b/bandit 250 disc,and the rayco 12"drum,the bandit will have a bigger engine and use similar fuel.

The best drum chipper you can buy is the one that you can get full dealer support and spare parts for as if you can't, then even the best machine is useless when down.

Your choice in the UK is:

 

Woodsman from Liston

Bandit from Global.

 

The choice is yours, both are USA made, both have heavy duty build and both have dealers with engineers and parts departments. plus most important they both have full CE certs.
