Everyone has had a day like that Matt! If it didn't feel right and you got yourself wound up about it it was best to stop as thats when accidents do happen. Iknow how you feel though i did that once when i worked for James and obviously the job had to be done so one of the experienced climbers went up and fininshed it and i beat myself up about it for weeks.

have done it myself as well much to the annoyance of others but as you say you get that feeling ...mine was a large poplar that had a slight lean on and in winds that were getting stronger all time and whilst clearing the stem up on my way up i found a lovely cavity that i could get my feet into about 3/4 of the way through ( size eleven boots ) about 20 foot up and there was still another 40ft at least above me .. i dont get paid enough for taking those chances and as i always say nowhere on my cv does it say "Have the ability to fly or impervious to gravitational forces"

Fair call ,personally i like to think i would have carried on ,Maybe had a cig break to think it over ,then back at it ,travelling ,setting up ,getting started ,all good reasons to complete the job get the dosh and go home ,In my opinion .the things still going to need doing ,,,,get back at it asap ,,,,,,not having a pop ,,,,just my humble slant on things ,

its even worse on your own job. if i turn up contract cimbing im far more likely to go ahead with the climbing than if it was my own job.
