I bought one of these from Jonesie end of last year as a back up for my 200t. great price and doesnt look a bad saw, is a pain that it doesnt come with a spiked bumper and the choke looks like it might snap off when being pulled through branches in a tree, but overall (without using it) I'm pretty happy for the money i paid for it:thumbup1:

Sounds like Ama are better than the Chinese saws I have come accross, I guess you have to take the majority vote on this one and it seems positive.

Being a chainsaw doctor, I still favour Husqvarna, Stihl and Jonsered just through build quality and construction - not seen any of these Italian ones yet.

thanks guys!!! you have all given me a lot of info and plenty to think about

FA - I had the little Makita top handle for some time (DCS230T, if memory serves) and I would rate it very highly! It is a bulletproof little saw, using next to no fuel and weighing about as much as a spare chain for your 361. They aren't that much to buy, though a bit more than the Ama.

i have thought about makita, but they are blue :001_tt2: and they bought out dolmar so maybe they took some of the engineering along to

I wouldn't have thought so. You are used to fine saws; solid saws like big old Dolmars. That thing would do your head in :thumbup1:

ahahaa this is true i am used to very soild saws, i think any saw that is smaller than 60cc i would find fiddily :001_tt2:

Looks like the Stiga top handled saw that i use....prob from same factory....i was very impressed i use mine every day...infact almost prefer it to the 200...get it....i think im going to invest in one. Anyone wann buy a 200 off me!!!!!

how much you want for the 200?

I have an ama and a mtd top handle chainsaw they are both the same saw these saws were also the exact same as the husqvarna t425 I think they are fine for pruning and as a backup climbing saw I have never tried blocking down any decent wood with one but will soon try it.

You can bury the bar and it will happily cut a full bar length no problem but it is a bit slow in bigger wood and I don't know if it would last as long as a 200t doing this day in day out . Also I have never used a (proper climbing saw) e.g. A Stihl ms 200t, 201t, husqvarna 540xp so can't compare but I think they are great saws for most daily work
