Hi.

I currently just use a Sprinter van, doing mostly landscaping and grounds maintenance.

I am thinking of getting a tipper truck with a gvw of over 3.5t as payload is pretty useless on most 3.5t ones.

I don't want to go down the route of operators license etc so will not be going up to 7.5t.

Does anyone run anything above 3.5t and below 7t? What is good and bad?

I know it'll need a tacho, are there any other regs I should be aware of? :confused1:

Many thanks for any info :thumbup1:

I used to run 5.56T Iveco turbo dailys with custom built tipper bodies and roller boxes by TGS of Bristol. Fantastic trucks, highly reliable but because it is used commercially and is over 3.5T they require operators licences to run them. It sounds worse than it is, once granted it is a relatively easy procedure to keep it updated. The only pain in the arse is the need for recorded vehicle inspections to be carried out by a suitably qualified mechanic every 13 weeks. But, seeing as you potentially are carrying significantly heavy loads, what price on safety?

You can do your own inspections if you feel up to the job.

Currently running Iveco 5.2 on restricted licence. Licence can be a pita at times - You can do your own checks etc but must be able to prove competence. One extra point you must also be able to prove financially sound - 3 months with over £3.5K available to be able to maintain/repair vehicle.
