our tree has not dropped one needle:thumbup1:yet!

Was looking at our tree last night and started thinking the kids wife myself walked around a plantation picked out a suitable plant, i dug the bugger up we loaded it onto the owners tractor it had a ride in the family pickup we,ve stood it up in our living room (after a right ball ache of getting indoors) decorated it feed it enjoyed it armour.

I was thinking its earnt a place in our hearts so was going to drag it outside and give it a spot in the garden to live on.

But then i though sod it im gonna chop it up with loppers and burn the sucker in the stove.

Was it a Spruce? Really bad for needle retention. Nordman or Fraser Fir if you want the needles to stay on. We grow spruce and engleman but only recommend them for outside or in conservatories, porches etc.

Nice idea with the 2011. I bet the Hoover loves you!

 

We grow Fraser fir. Had a few hundred out this year. Had one in the house and it barely dropped a needle. We've recently planted 20000 more trees. Fraser and nordman. With a view to plant another 20000 over the next year.

 

I never recommend spruce as an indoor tree. Way to happy to shed it's load!

Hi Rob, always nice to meet another grower! We are harvesting 10k plus Fraser and 15k Nord next season. Planted 22k Nords last autum and another 30k this spring! Never ending... I see your loctaed in St helens, dont know where your trees are situated but have you had any problems with aphid down your way?

Cut them leaders back or they'll never plump out and they will be a nightmare to shear the year before you harvest em... Sorry i couldnt resist!
