little update

i email husky uk and asked them what the difference was and they replyed:

"Dear Sir ,

Thank you for your email, The UK saw has a different carburettor & muffler

to meet the more stringent emission laws here in the UK.

Regards

Technical Support"

so there u have it but the tec specs say they have the same carb (HS 300A) but differend mufflers also the usa vertion is lowder than the uks which makes me think it might just be the mufflers with a retune?

US Huskies deffo run better than ours - typically as if they've been ported which is kinda true - more open muffler and tweaked to suit hence that clear difference in exhaust sound... dunno about their fuel tho...

The US ms260 has less hp than the UK model though? Just muffle mod it and retune it and you should be somewhere or there abouts at least anyway!

yeah thats the case with the ms660. the us is 0.1 hp less than the uk version.

odd that its a different way around with the husqvanas especialy if its to do with the H&S regs youd have thaught that they all would have more hp in us.

well after alot of emailing husky and pratting around with parts manuals i have found the answer! all it is is the eu muffler is very restricting compared to the us ones. i have got a dj (jungle muffler) 503 71 13-05 for £35 from ebay.com (£75 from this country) and a carb ajusting tool 530035560 for £6 from local dealer. 10 mins and it was all fitted and tuned up. louder and more power. definatly make a differance with my 36" bar.

so for £40 i would recomend it to every 395xp owner. in thery i should be getting more than 7.1hp due to using the jungle muffler as its even less restricing than the standared usa one!!

hears one of the husky emails for referance:

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your email .

The initials f f stand for Spark Arrester Mufflers

The initials D J stand for Jungle - A muffler used in very hot countries to

reduce heat build up .

Nether of these are recommended for use in the UK due to emission laws
