Hello all, just joined arbtalk and have a question for you, I'm about to go self employed as a sub-contracting climber and was wondering if someone go give me an idea of what the going rate is for an experienced climber? I live near Kingston upon Thames in Surrey. Hope you can help,

all down to supply and demand

or experience and efficiency

If your better than the rest and tree teams want you then good pay

If not get a jub behind a bar as work is in short supply for mr average

hi Phil no disrespect,,but how experienced?,,experienced as in,just left merrist wood? or worked for hard tree team for five yrs? the answer to that question,,,,,is important,,,,,:confused1:

Five years experience, done everything from hedgecutting to large takedowns with a crane, have been a foreman/climber for the past 3 years.

I would say about 110 - 130 p/day if you can get it. Depending on the kit you provide and the job at hand. Maybe more if you are exceptionally talented.

 

It is supply and demand though mate. There are a lot of Mr. averages out there. I personally feel that as well as skills, the key to being a successful freelance climber is to be adaptable, without arrogance and a grafter to the bone. Once the climbing is done then get down and give the boys a hand...

if ur employed and can keep ur job id stay there if i were u unless u have 4 or 5 companys intrested in using you offten. with the way things r goin jobs are only going to get tighter and harder to find work
