false widow spider

whilst working this week i came accross this little beauty, i think its a false widow spider, but i might be wrong its looks very similar to a black widow spider but without the red hour glass on its back. it was about an 30-35mm in diameter. if anyone knows exactly what it is id love to know as ive not seen anything quite like it before in the uk.

my mate bet me a pint i would'nt pick it up, i dont normally pass up a bet but that spider looked serious. it was jet black with a very slight redish tinge, ill try and get some better pics of it. since looking on the web i think it could be to big for a false widow spider.:scared1:
