I 've never tried rigging with a vt either josh, I have used a prussic however with some home made spiders that do a similar job. I find that a 4 wrap prussic will creep with heavier pieces, where as a 6 wrap one doesn't. I think if you put enough wraps on your vt it would be fine.:001_smile:

no idea on exact weight they can hold but its a hell of a lot. i find the vt holds better on a tensioned rope than a standard prus as it doesnt rely on kinking the rope as much. the ;last set up is steves homemade balancer. Think hes machined the alu, inserted some big bolts with spliced eyes and pulleys on and enabled the rig to balanced real easy. rigging line connects to the webbing out of the top. Got to remember that these setups (imo) generally arent for massive weights, just times you can let anything twist, swing ,drop etc..

not much different really, just omits the carabiners as far as i can tell really. the smooth edges do let the vt's work well though

Bump.

Is 8mm AP ok to use a prussic for balancing in rigging work?

Saw JK's pics and whats the difference between using 1 prussic and 2 again for balancing limbs?(does that make sense?)

Posted

Using 2 enables you to balance each end, using 1 just puts the attachment in the middle. Or did you mean a spiderleg bro? You coming upto northland next week?

So if you use 1 prussic roughly in the middle its not nesserialy going to be balanced?

I get having to prussics now.Does diameter of prussic matter?

Yeah 2 of us coming up,really looking forward to it,meet new people and learn heaps of stuff.:thumbup1:
