Could anyone give me some advice on a good location to buy a second hand hakki pilke eagle or japa 300. I've been looking on ebay and they all seem to make a fortune. Am i missing something, are they better than i think (all i use at the moment is an axe and chainsaw) or am i just tight!! I've got a fair few fallen trees to fell and chop up and i'd like something less back-breaking to cut and split them!

Any advice greatly appreciated.

I wish I could offer you some advice, but unfortunatley I only knew of one for sale... And I've just bought it :sneaky2:

They are very good... no comparison to hand cutting and splitting - the machine can work all day and the operator still feels fine afterwards!!

The down side is yes they do fetch good money second hand, but they also make plenty of money! Stop being tight! :001_smile:

why not build yourself a splitter? the one in my avatar will shear timber up to 4 inch dia...:D

or, i've a japa 100 up for offer, needs a new blade though, i pinched the one that was on it to replace knackered one on japa 700!:sneaky2:

I have a large upright splitter which I think is great reliable and little maintenance overall only a third slower than most processors . at least 33% of a cord wood delivery wont go through a processor so u need a splitter. Our processor I have a love hate relationship with its now 9 years old and breaks down on at least a weekly basis. I guess what I am saying is get a good splitter first.

i just sold my 13 year old jappa 700, i got 3 grand for it. i had loads of calls, you gotta snap one up quick if you see one a theprice is going up all the time we have cold weather and a demand for firewood. you should bite the bullet and get one, if it dont work out for you, sell it on, you should get your money back. try william at m. large tree services.
