Trainers trying to achive QTLS

Hi folks just wondering if any of you like myself are attemping to put their professional formation together to gain qualified teacher status? if anyone has already completed this for the IFL could they give me a few hints as to how they went about it and how long it took them to complete.

Not sure if it's the same but I used to run the Graduate Teacher Progamme for Sheffield Hallam Uni, it used to take my students a year to gain their QTS.

QTS involves tests that cover the core skills that teachers need to fulfil their wider professional role in schools, rather than the subject knowledge required for teaching. This is to ensure all teachers are competent in numeracy, literacy and information and communication technology (ICT), regardless of their specialism

 

Those coming to work in further education and skills with QTS have to complete Professional Formation and gain QTLS status within two years of taking up a teaching position (post-September 2007). When you undertake Professional Formation, the IfL will verify whether this familiarisation process has taken place or not, during the assessment of your portfolio.

Hi, gaining QTS requires that you have completed a teacher training course, at the moment this is primarily DTLLS which is a two year course, after which you have to complete a years teaching backed up with bridging assignments. Once this is done you can claim QTS status via the IFL.

 

Believe me m8, it's a ball breaker of a procedure to go through.....

Are we talking about QTS, or QTLS... as they are different (and it's quite a contentious subject too!).
