Some photos of our first crane job the other week. Over 15tonne of chip and god knows how many loads of logs, the guys were in and out all day with the trucks and trailers. All went without any problems, mind you it a bit daunting having over 4 tonne of Macca limb dangling over your head!

Was going to give all the timber away until Gibbon told me it was good burning wood! Have left it outside in the rain to wash excess sap out and will move it into the barn next year £££££

stove and kettle is always in the van, accompanied by frying pan for those middle of no-where bacon sarnies :)

Bolt- Did you have Brian operating the crane?

What does a crane like that cost per day? Is it also cost effective as opposed to a manual dismantle?

Cheers

Dave

For the right job, if we could of parked under the tree then we would not of used a crane, but you could not get anything much bigger than my kangoo van up the street in front of the house, let alone a transit and trailer, tractor with pto chipper and 12tonne grain trailer on, and the whole tree would have to of been taken through the house too, with full road closure:thumbdown:

Cant remember what the total cost was but we had it on a weekend day due to closing the job center car park off, which cost a bit more. Will have a look at the invoice later.

Ha Ha, Not sure on the name of the driver (I used the crane back in 2001 at the tail end of the foot-and-mouth outbrake).

He was an old boy of few words if i remember.

We used it to dismantle a monster dead douglas fir on the edge of the of the A386, half way between Bideford and Great Torrington.

Happy days:thumbup1:
