Are there any LOLER inspectors or the like who can shed any light on what's the lowest temp our metalwork should be exposed to?

Has been mentioned to me that -17C is what bina's etc are rated to??

sorry to state the obvious

If you bought yours new you would of got manufacturers guidance

Have a look

All different so sorry no 1 temp fits all

Exposing a Karibiner to the cold may make it more brittle, hovever as soon as its warmed up again it will be just as good as it was before. No need to retire it. If cold permanently dammaged aluminium alloy airliners would fall from the sky the frrst time thay went to high altitude.

I don't know what the manufacturers minimum temperature will be, but I'll bet I give in before it gets that cold.:001_smile:

Hi Bob. Had thought that I'd had a quick look at a bina's manufacturers info after this guy mentioned this, been a while now so can't be sure. Not in habit of keeping everything that comes with my kit :)

Agree with you Tom but even after I'd packed it in for the day at minus 20 odd last year my kit was still living in the back of the pickup over night
