funnily enough, after reading this thread i opened my mail and i have the exact same letter.

and i quote 'they are simple plug in kits that take around 10 minutes to fit and as they can be removed easily will not void any manufacturers warranty or guarantee'

so........is this worded in a clever way meaning if you take it off before you go back to your dealers they arent going to know about it....or will it in fact not void your warranty? i might phone nissan tomorrow and find out

You'll be beating me to it there. Prepare for waffle: I suspect they won't want us using the things but they also won't want to admit that the warranties will stand the unit's use.

Interesting point made about insurance. I wonder if the ins. cos. would see fitting one as a 'modification'? Declare it and have your premium go up, don't declare it and risk your insurance being voided because you didn't tell them about it.

The former I reckon - any sniff of an opportunity for moneymaking...

Oh, while I'm here how the heck do I 'Quote' reply to more than one post in one reply of my own?! My ignorance is the reason for all my short 'reply' posts.

Thanks for the surprisingly positive replies all; I was expecting the Powerbox to be slated if truth be told.

well i called Nissan, the short answer is yes, it will void your warranty.

i think the line i quoted above should actually read 'they can be removed in 10 minutes so make sure you do this before going back to your dealer and they'll be none the wiser'

Bound to say that weren't they.

Got a call from a 'talker this morning who took a Freelander for service at one of the South East's biggest L/R dealers; the manager politely asked him to unplug the box. Five minutes later the manager was happy!

This is definitely a case of the heart not grieving over what the eye doesn't see.

Well I took my time but got one off the bay for £107 delivered. Am still driving like an old woman but have bumped up my mpg nearly 15%. What I've noticed in particular is the improved mpg when towing; you can do just about everything a gear higher, as I was advised by someone with previous experience of the boxes.

The more fuel prices rise the quicker the box will pay for itself: I'm sure there's logic in that somewhere!
