I leave Leylandii at least 2 years - after that there is no sign of resin and it burns in a top class way. Ideal for kindling, can be split down to matchsticks betweens whorls.

I tell all my customers what they are burning and the relative merits - they love it as well (for wood burning stoves only mind - it does spit).

As a firewood - great, burns hot and bright, though not for that long.

To handle - blinking 'orrible, resinous as hell and if you get through any quantity, you can be sure of everybody and everything around the stove/fire being covered in the stuff!

i love the stuff, smells great and burns very hot. I have made my living for the last 13 years off the back of Leylandi's, its my favourite tree:thumbup1:

Saying things like 'I love Leylandii' only backs up the 'I'm a bit nuts' persona implied by your avatar! :001_tt2::lol:

Touché!

That said, I will concede that Leylandii smells lovely when burnt, but it's not something I'd ever bother with again unless it was free.

I love the smell of itin general, cutting it, trimming it, logging it, burning it and even picking the sappy stuff off the hair on my arms on a night out:biggrin:

I think connie is crap for burning, up and down every 20 minutes loading the stove cos it burns too quick.

That must go down well with the ladies! I just hear the pick up line:

'Hey beautiful - want to come back to mine and get sticky............? I've got this muckle great pile of Leylandii that needs splitting and I'll be damned if I'm doing it myself!'

Arboricultural pickup lines - there must be a thread in that! :laugh1:
